Does PDFPack send my documents to a server on the internet?
No. PDFPack was designed around total privacy. All processing - JPEGpack compression, text editing, merging and signing - happens 100% locally on your Mac’s processor. Your confidential files never leave your computer.
How does the JPEGpack engine integration work?
PDFPack ships with the same deep image optimization engine as our sibling app, JPEGpack. When you save a modified document or compress a heavy PDF, the app shrinks the file dramatically without pixelating or ruining the visuals, leaving it the perfect size to send right away on WhatsApp or Slack.
Does the app work without an internet connection?
Yes, perfectly. You can sign, edit, merge and convert files while fully offline (travelling or with no signal). The internet is only used to activate your license key, for a periodic check of it (the app tolerates weeks without a network) and to get app updates.
Which digital certificates does PDFPack accept?
The app fully supports ICP-Brasil standards. You can import A1 certificates (.pfx or .p12 files) directly, or use A3 tokens and smart cards connected to your Mac over USB, as long as the manufacturer’s native drivers are installed on macOS.
Are signatures made in the app legally valid?
Yes. PDFPack produces PAdES signatures with SHA-256, which are legally valid throughout Brazil. The resulting file was tested and approved by the official ITI validator (validar.iti.gov.br) of the Brazilian federal government.
What happens to a PDF’s existing signatures when I merge or reorganize pages?
In ordinary readers, merging files invalidates earlier digital signatures. PDFPack handles this intelligently: it detects pages that already carry signatures and rasterizes them in high definition as images. The visible signature stamp stays perfectly legible and preserved in the final document.
How does the 15-day free trial work?
Just download the .dmg file from our website and install it on your Mac. The app runs with 15 days of full access, with no feature limits and no watermarks on your documents. You don’t need a credit card or billing details to start.
If I lose my license key, how do I get it back?
Go to Recover License in the site footer (pdfpack.app/recover) and enter the email you bought with. You get a one-time link; open it and your keys appear on screen — plus, for a subscription, the button to manage it.
Can I move my license to a new Mac or revoke access?
Yes. In the app, under Settings → License → View machines, you see the Macs using the license and can free any of them; the seat is released right away so the same key activates on the new Mac. To free a Mac that isn’t in front of you, the app asks for a code sent to the license email. No access to any of the Macs? Write to support@pdfpack.app.
How do seats work on the Business Plan?
The Business plan is a yearly per-seat subscription under a single Stripe billing. Each seat is one authorized Mac. You get one key covering all the seats you bought and activate it on your team’s Macs; any of them can list and free the license’s machines.
Can I cancel the subscription anytime?
Yes, anytime, from the subscription portal (in the app or through the Recover License link). The subscription stops renewing and access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Monthly, yearly and Business renew automatically until you cancel; lifetime is a one-time payment and never renews.
